
Sixth finals week ever.  Worst lineup so far—five exams in five days. I’ve
handled busier weeks, but never five upper-division exams lined up to hit this
hard. These notes are a breadcrumb trail for future-me, proof that the week
happened the way memory will try to soften later.

### Saturday 

Operating Systems is in 48 hours, and Tuesday’s Financial Econ
sounds even worse right now.  On the side: one half-finished project, two
assignments, and a research paper that is far from finished. No room for clean
runs—just triage and forward motion. Writing this probably doesn’t help, yet
spelling out the chaos keeps it from feeling larger than it is.

### Monday-Tuesday 

Operating Systems—done.  

Financial Econ in thirteen hours. I open my notes and accept that sleep’s likely
off the schedule. The all-nighter always feels cinematic at first: silence thick
enough to wade through, and my brain swapping caffeine for sheer will. 

A few hours in: the glamour is gone—slides re-read start to look like
palimpsests, and I’m clocking twenty-minute detours into irrelevant footnotes
just to keep my eyes open. Every extra hour promised productivity; instead it
lent me a kind of slow-motion clarity, the feeling of thinking through honey. By
now I’m shuffling through slides at half speed, buying focus with music and the
second caffeine intake for the day.

It's 4 AM. Calling it. Two-hour nap, maybe three.

Exam is done. Energy-drink fog, sloppy arithmetic, but the thing is over.
All-nighters still feel heroic until the proctor hands out the test and your
neurons file for overtime pay.

### Wednesday

Intermediate Macro Economics today—technically optional, but I
sat for it anyway to lock in the grade. Down to two exams. Momentum’s thin—I
mostly orbit my desk, scrolling and pacing, waiting for this week to get over.

### Thursday

Distributed Systems went surprisingly well, but I’m wiped. I step
outside feeling scattered. One more to go. Compilers. Tomorrow. A final
all-nighter is inevitable, though I’m already running on fumes.

**11 PM**  Coffee tastes like regret; the parse tables in front of me might as
well be Sanskrit.

**2 AM**  Miserable and stuck.

**4 AM**  Resigned. I’m not learning, just orbiting the material and waiting for
sunrise to grant permission to stop.


### Friday

And it's done.

Campus parking already sounds much quieter for the first time all week. The
whole run was messy—bad sleep, too much Monster, take-out food, lecture slides
with corners curled from overuse—but it’s finished.

Will I miss it? Parts of it, yes. The late-night calm, the moment a tough
concept finally clicks, the way sunrise sneaks through blinds while you’re still
mid-problem. Mostly I’m glad to breathe without a countdown in my ear.

When a thing stops being made, time does strange things to its value.
Obsolescence doesn’t always mean irrelevance — sometimes, it means the beginning
of a second life.

You can see it clearly in online marketplaces, where discontinued gadgets become
relics — not because they’re rare, but because they meant something. iPod
Classics, those hefty jukeboxes in your pocket, routinely sell for hundreds of
dollars. Not because they outperform modern tech, but because they remind us of
a time when owning music meant curating it.

It’s tempting to write that off as sentimentality — and it is — but sentiment,
like any form of demand, has real economic weight. People aren’t just buying

nothing more.

In the grand scheme of life, decisions are omnipresent, and their consequences
shape our journey. Whether it's choosing a career path, investing time in a
project, or even deciding what to have for dinner, our choices carry
significance. Understanding the Sunk Cost Fallacy has opened my eyes to a
subtle yet powerful cognitive bias that often influences our decision-making
process.

The Sunk Cost Fallacy revolves around the idea that we tend to cling onto
investments, be it time, money, or effort, merely because we've already
invested in them. This fallacy clouds our judgment and makes us reluctant to
let go, even when the rational choice might be to cut our losses and move on.

commands. Assuming your default shell is either Bash or Zsh, this tutorial
should work just fine.

To begin, open your terminal. You can find it in your applications or use a
keyboard shortcut like `Ctrl + Alt + T` on most Linux distributions. On macOS,
you can find it in the "Utilities" folder within the "Applications" directory.

Once the terminal is open, you will see a prompt where you can start entering
commands. This is where it all begins!

### Basic Commands

Let’s start with some basic commands that you can try out in your terminal:

- `pwd` (Print Working Directory): This command displays the current directory
  you are in. For example, if you are in the home directory, running `pwd` will
  output `/home/username`.

- `ls` (List): Use this command to list the files and directories in the current
  directory. For example, running `ls` will display a list of files and
  directories in the current directory.

- `cd` (Change Directory): This command allows you to navigate to a different
  directory. For example, running `cd Documents` will change your current
  directory to the "Documents" directory.

- `mkdir` (Make Directory): Use this command to create a new directory. For
  example, running `mkdir myfolder` will create a new directory named "myfolder"
  in the current directory.

- `touch` (Create File): This command creates a new file. For example, running
  `touch myfile.txt` will create a new empty file named "myfile.txt" in the
  current directory.

Remember to press `Enter` after typing each command to execute it.

### Command Options and Arguments

Commands often come with options and arguments that modify their behavior.
Options are typically specified using a hyphen followed by a letter or word,
such as `-l` or `--help`. Arguments are additional information provided to a
command, such as a file or directory name.

For example:

- `ls -l`: Lists files in the long format. Here `-l` is the option being
  specified. Running `ls -l` will display detailed information about each file
  in the current directory, including permissions, owner, size, and modification
  date.

- `mkdir myfolder`: Creates a directory named "myfolder". Here `myfolder`
  is the argument. Running this command will create a new directory named
  "myfolder" in the current directory.

### Command History

Bash and Zsh keep track of the commands you’ve previously entered, allowing you
to access them easily. You can use the up and down arrow keys to navigate
through your command history. Press `Enter` to execute a previously entered
command.

### Tab Completion

Tab completion is a helpful feature that saves you from typing out long file or
directory names. When you start typing, press the `Tab` key, and the shell will
try to auto-complete the rest of the name for you. If there are multiple
possibilities, pressing `Tab` twice will show you the available options.

For better tab completions, auto-complete, and syntax highlighting you can
configure your `.zshrc` file. I have a [github

defaults (in my opinion) and all the necessary configuration for a better
experience.

myscript.sh`. Now, you can run the script by typing `./myscript.sh` in the
terminal.

Large sections of people are involved in this. The stakeholders in this issue

Open the terminal in your root directory then type-

```shell
$ cd ~/.idlerc
$ touch config-highlight.cfg
$ open .
```

### Step 2: Edit the _config-highlight.cfg_ file

This will open the ~/.idlerc folder with the custom theme config file. Now open
this file from finder or use

```bash
$ open -a TextEdit config-highlight.cfg
```

### Step 3: Update the theme on IDLE

Now paste the theme code snippet into this file and save it. It's simpler from
here on. Open IDLE Preferences, go to highlights, and choose the custom theme.
